Binance Moves Funding Accounts Toward Spot as Its New Stocks Account Takes Shape
• September 30, 2026 11:20 am • CommentsBinance is reshaping where users keep and receive crypto inside its platform, and the change is bigger than a simple menu rename.
According to a Binance announcement, Funding Accounts stopped accepting direct on-chain crypto deposits on September 29. New deposits must go to Spot Accounts, while crypto received through Binance Pay now lands in Spot as well.
The exchange is also moving settlement for several Convert functions. New limit orders freeze and settle assets in Spot, while expired orders return funds there.
Recurring Convert orders now settle into Spot or Earn. Failed recurring-order refunds also go back to Spot.
That makes the practical message straightforward: users who have treated Funding as a general-purpose wallet need to start checking Spot first. Binance says total balances and fund safety are unaffected, while incoming assets and account integrations move to a different internal destination.

The destination of the old Funding Account explains the wider strategy. Binance plans to rename it the Stocks Account in January 2027 and reserve it for stock and stock-options settlement.
Six settlement assets are listed for that environment: USD, USDC, USDT, USD1, U and BNB.
Binance is already promoting new stock listings as it widens that side of the platform. The migration separates everyday crypto movement from an account being repurposed for a broader mix of financial products.

A CryptoSlate review of the rollout highlights the details users are most likely to notice. Existing Funding balances are not all moving at once.
Binance says a one-click migration option will be added, with automatic batch transfers scheduled to begin in January for assets users do not move themselves.
Binance Pay can still draw from Funding temporarily when a user’s payment priority allows it, but that account will be removed as a payment source before the Stocks Account rename. Funding-only recurring sends will stop at that point, so affected users will need to choose another source.
P2P users have a separate timetable. Most non-merchants and users without recent ad history will default to Spot after updating the app, while advertisers continue using Funding ahead of a dedicated P2P Account planned for December.
Binance also tells API users to update account references from Funding to Spot.
There is no announced loss of access to customer crypto here. The risk is confusion during a long migration: sending assets to the wrong internal destination, overlooking a payment plan that needs updating, or assuming the future Stocks Account will keep functioning as the old Funding wallet did.
For regular users, the safest takeaway is simple: use Spot for new crypto deposits, check Spot for Pay receipts and Convert settlements, and review any recurring payment or API setup that still points to Funding before Binance finishes the transition.
