Bitcoin Holds a Critical Midterm-Year Support Zone as $75,000 Comes Into Focus
• November 2, 2026 8:02 pm • CommentsBitcoin is entering U.S. midterm-election week with the market’s attention fixed on a narrow band of long-term support.
The price recently tested the $76,300 area before recovering toward $77,000. That move put Bitcoin almost directly on top of trend levels that long-horizon traders watch closely, including its 100-day simple moving average and 100-week exponential moving average.
Cointelegraph reports that the 100-day average had risen to roughly $76,548, while the 100-week exponential average stood near $77,759. A clean break below both would put the next support test in immediate view after the recent $76,300 low, with the round-number $75,000 area becoming the clearest nearby reference for buyers.
The overlap makes this more than a single moving-average test. Bitcoin entered the week near $77,000 after probing roughly $76,300, placing spot price inside the same narrow band as both long-term measures.
The report also placed the pullback in the context of prior fourth-quarter weakness during U.S. midterm years. Analysts were watching whether Bitcoin would briefly slip beneath support before recovering, a pattern that would look very different from a sustained breakdown.
This should go without saying, but usually the time to sell Bitcoin (if you are going to) is Q4 of post-halving years, not during the Q4 dump of midterm years.
Usually the Q4 dump of midterm years just provide opportunities to buy for those who sold long ago.

Analyst Benjamin Cowen pointed to a recurring pattern: Q4 weakness during U.S. midterm years has historically looked very different from the late-cycle selling that can arrive after a post-halving run. The comparison does not promise that history repeats.
It does show why the same red candle can mean different things depending on where it lands in the broader cycle.
This week’s political calendar adds another source of uncertainty. Midterm results can shift expectations for fiscal policy, regulation and risk appetite, while large technology-company earnings continue to influence the same liquidity-sensitive trades that often pull Bitcoin in either direction.
If buyers cannot keep Bitcoin above the current moving-average cluster, the market may probe lower before it finds durable demand. That is why the area around $75,000 has become the next obvious psychological and technical reference point.

The question now is whether Bitcoin can produce some sort of downside deviation below here over the next few weeks$BTC #Bitcoin https://t.co/jJqh3E1ZJE pic.twitter.com/PYpar8pWpd

Rekt Capital described the current area as a right-shoulder support level comparable to the 2023 cycle and raised the possibility of a temporary break below it. That kind of downside deviation can flush leverage and still end in recovery, but traders only know it was a deviation after price reclaims the level.
Bitcoin has reached a support zone that matters, and the market has not yet proved the test is over. A sustained move back above the 100-week trend would strengthen the recovery case.
A decisive loss of the mid-$76,000 area would put $75,000—and the buyers waiting there—front and center.
