Lord Jacob Rothschild, one of the main leaders of the Rothschild banking family, has passed away at age 87.

The Rothschild banking family is largely responsible for the creation of centralized banking schemes that have destroyed the value of money today through endless monetary printing.

Cryptocurrencies, especially Bitcoin, were created as a remedy to that centralized money problem.

Despite this, Rothschild was actually a crypto investor, with a small portion of his investing activities taking place in the blockchain space, according to Cryptopolitan:

Under Lord Rothschild’s leadership, RIT Capital Partners ventured into the field of cryptocurrency and blockchain technology.

This strategic pivot began to draw significant attention around 2016 when the Rothschild family reportedly started diversifying away from the U.S. dollar towards other currencies, including potential investments in Bitcoin.

However, it was not until 2021 that RIT Capital Partners officially marked its entry into the crypto sphere with an $8.8 million investment in Aspen Digital, a Hong Kong-based blockchain platform.

However, the crypto community and many others overwhelmingly viewed Rothschild in a negative light and even celebrated his death. Take a look at some of the reactions below:

BBC News provided a short biographic for the late financier:

Born in Berkshire in 1936, Lord Rothschild was educated at Eton College and went on to study history at Christ Church, Oxford. He joined the family bank in 1963 but left in 1980 after falling out with his cousin Sir Evelyn de Rothschild.

He went on to build his own financial empire in the City of London, founding investment trust RIT Capital, which he chaired until 2019.
