Terraform Labs co-founder Do Kwon is set to be released from his house arrest pending a decision from the Montenegrin courts.

Officials in Montenegro have struggled as to whether or not to extradite the South Korean native to his homeland or the United States to face charges. Additionally, prosecutors have struggled with whether or not to extradite him at all.

At the center of the contentious court proceedings is the assertion that lower courts mishandled his case from the very beginning and committed clerical and procedural errors.

As of now, the Terraform Labs co-founder is set to be released from house arrest but must remain in Montenegro until the courts have decided his fate.

ProCoin News previously reported that Do Kwon’s case may be heading to the Supreme Court of Montenegro. Here are the latest developments:

Cryptopolitan confirmed:

Do Kwon, the co-founder of Terraform Labs, is set for release from Spuž prison in Montenegro, with strict conditions preventing his departure from the country. Following a court order, Kwon’s passport was confiscated, a measure aimed at ensuring he stayed within Montenegrin jurisdiction.

Members of the Luna community celebrated the release of Terraform Labs co-founder Do Kwon by Montenegrin authorities and saw it as a bullish sign for the crypto project.

CoinDesk reminded readers:

On Thursday, the Office of the Supreme State Prosecutor issued a statement arguing that the court’s decision overstepped the limits of its power. The prosecutor claimed that a decision on where to extradite Kwon can only be made by the country’s minister of justice.
