Coinbase Completes Deribit Integration as Coinbase Pro Prepares to Return
• October 7, 2026 11:10 am • CommentsCoinbase says its Deribit integration is complete, giving the company a single trading structure that reaches from basic spot markets to some of the deepest Bitcoin options liquidity in the world.
The bigger surprise is what comes with it: Coinbase Pro is coming back. The familiar professional-trading brand is scheduled to return by the end of 2026 as part of a much broader exchange rebuild.
Coinbase says the completed integration creates Coinbase Global Exchange, connecting U.S. and international derivatives markets through one regulated liquidity pool. Deribit brought more than $30 billion in Bitcoin options open interest as of September 30 and processed over $1 trillion in trading volume last year.
The company plans to roll out Deribit-powered options, spot margin and unified portfolios in the coming weeks. Those portfolios are designed to let customers view risk across spot and derivatives positions while using eligible assets more efficiently as collateral.
For institutional clients, Coinbase Financial Markets is meant to provide access to Deribit options and perpetual futures through Coinbase Prime. Coinbase says that puts spot trading, futures, custody, financing, staking and global derivatives behind one account and one compliance framework.
Retail users are also part of the plan. Coinbase is promising a new matching engine, streamlined onboarding, improved active-trader fee tiers and a unified account that can support more complex products without sending customers across several disconnected venues.
Coinbase Pro returns inside a much larger exchange
The old Coinbase Pro was retired as the company consolidated advanced trading into its main platform. Its return signals that Coinbase once again wants a clearly defined home for active and professional traders.

By year-end, the revived Pro platform is expected to combine spot, futures, perpetual futures, options and equities. That is a much wider product set than the original interface offered.
CEO Brian Armstrong reinforced the announcement from his own account, giving the return of Pro more weight than a routine branding update.

Deribit gives Coinbase the liquidity it could not build overnight
Cointelegraph reports that the integration gives Coinbase access to Deribit’s established options and perpetual-futures market rather than forcing the U.S. exchange to build that liquidity from scratch. The combined system is designed to connect U.S. institutions with global markets through Coinbase’s regulated brokerage and custody structure.
That connection matters because derivatives dominate global crypto volume, while many U.S. firms have faced a fragmented mix of offshore venues, separate collateral accounts and different counterparty relationships. Coinbase is betting that one regulated stack can remove enough friction to pull more of that activity onto its platform.
The rollout will still arrive in stages. Options and unified portfolios are expected first, while some products will remain limited by customer type and jurisdiction.
The Pro interface is only the visible layer. Underneath it, Coinbase is assembling Deribit’s global options engine, U.S. futures access, spot margin and a single view of collateral and risk.
