The Ethereum Rule Behind Upbit’s New MORPHO and EUL Won Markets
• July 25, 2026 8:19 pm • CommentsUpbit, South Korea’s largest crypto exchange, is adding MORPHO/KRW trading on July 25 and EUL/KRW trading on July 26, giving two decentralized-finance lending tokens direct Korean-won markets. The paired rollout carries one shared operational condition: deposits and withdrawals for both assets are supported only through Ethereum.
The exchange’s English notice schedules MORPHO trading for 18:00 Korea Standard Time on July 25. Current reporting places EUL trading at 12:00 Korea Standard Time on July 26, creating separate start times on consecutive days.
Those announcements combine a trading decision with a transfer restriction, but the labels describe different layers. KRW is the quote currency for each market, while Ethereum is the sole blockchain route Upbit accepts for deposits and withdrawals of either token.

The distinction separates the market from the transfer rail. Selecting a KRW pair determines the currency against which a trade is quoted, while selecting Ethereum determines whether an incoming or outgoing token transfer uses the supported network.
A user can trade MORPHO against won once MORPHO/KRW opens and can do the same with EUL after EUL/KRW opens. That market access does not create support for additional blockchains, and it does not alter the network requirement for moving assets.
For transfers, the network field is the practical checkpoint. Sending MORPHO or EUL through any route other than Ethereum falls outside Upbit’s stated support and creates a risk of failed recovery or loss.
The rule applies in both directions. Ethereum-only deposit support governs tokens arriving at the exchange, and Ethereum-only withdrawal support governs tokens leaving it, so the KRW ticker should never be read as a network option.
It also applies independently to each asset. MORPHO/KRW and EUL/KRW remain separate markets with separate launch schedules, even though the same Ethereum transfer constraint sits beside both listings.
This structure can be easy to overlook because the notice places market availability and transfer instructions together. Trading availability establishes what users can exchange on the platform; network support establishes how an asset can cross the platform boundary.
The timing belongs to the trading layer. MORPHO is due to begin in the evening of July 25 at 18:00 KST, while EUL is reported for midday on July 26 at 12:00 KST; neither timestamp changes the Ethereum-only transfer rule.
MORPHO’s arrival adds a token associated with an EVM-focused lending system to a direct won market. Official documentation from Morpho describes the protocol as decentralized and noncustodial, implemented for Ethereum Virtual Machine networks.
The documentation says the protocol enables overcollateralized lending and borrowing through immutable, permissionless markets. It also identifies MORPHO-enabled governance as part of the system, placing the token within the protocol’s decision-making framework.
Overcollateralized lending describes a model in which borrowing is backed by collateral above the borrowed position. That protocol design explains the type of DeFi project attached to MORPHO without changing any practical transfer instruction in Upbit’s listing.
EUL is likewise tied to a decentralized lending protocol, though Euler is a separate system with its own token and protocol design. A current official Euler post describes an interface that displays utilization-aware projected yield.
That projection incorporates lending yield, borrowing costs, intrinsic yield and reward campaigns. The detail offers useful context for Euler’s lending function, while the Upbit development itself remains the opening of EUL/KRW under the reported schedule.
Putting MORPHO and EUL beside KRW gives users two direct won-denominated markets for lending-related crypto assets. It says nothing by itself about how deep either market will be, how much trading will occur or where either token’s price will move.
The notices establish availability, dates, times and the supported transfer network. They provide no basis for treating a listing as an endorsement of Morpho, Euler, their governance systems or their lending designs.
That boundary is especially important when two tokens from the same broad DeFi sector arrive close together. Shared category and shared Ethereum transfer support do not make the protocols equivalent, and the announcement does not evaluate their relative merits.
For users, the operational reading stays simple even if the protocols are complex. The pair name answers what trades against won; the network instruction answers how MORPHO or EUL can be deposited or withdrawn.
The paired timing may draw attention to DeFi lending as a category, but the listing information remains narrow. It identifies the assets, quote currency, start times and network support without making claims about adoption, demand or future protocol use.
Upbit to List Morpho (MORPHO) and Euler (EUL) in KRW Market
South Korea’s largest crypto exchange, Upbit will list MORPHO at 5:00 p.m. UTC+8 on July 25 and EUL at 11:00 a.m. UTC+8 on July 26. Deposits and withdrawals for both tokens will be supported only via Ethereum. pic.twitter.com/uIHWh56xLr

The paired schedule means availability must be checked asset by asset instead of being assumed from the first launch. MORPHO’s July 25 opening does not activate EUL/KRW, and the reported July 26 EUL time remains its own market event.
The announcements therefore present two separate checks: when a pair becomes available and whether a transfer route matches Upbit’s support. Following the trading schedule while selecting an unsupported network still carries recovery or loss risk, while using Ethereum does not make a pair live before its scheduled opening.
The transfer restriction remains identical across both listings. Every supported deposit or withdrawal of MORPHO or EUL must use Ethereum, regardless of whether the relevant KRW market has already opened.
Anyone preparing a transfer should keep the ticker and network as separate checks. The correct token paired with KRW identifies the intended market, while Ethereum identifies the accepted path; satisfying one does not establish the other.
This is the central practical consequence of Upbit’s paired DeFi additions. Korean-won trading expands the set of quoted markets on the stated dates, while Ethereum-only transfer support limits how users can deliver or remove each asset.
MORPHO and EUL enter the won market on different clocks, with MORPHO first at 18:00 KST on July 25 and EUL reported for 12:00 KST on July 26. Across both launches, the precise reading is the same: KRW governs trading denomination, and Ethereum governs the supported movement of tokens.
