A CEO of a cryptocurrency mining company based in the United States believes that the United States government is secretly mining cryptocurrency behind the scenes.

The CEO of Compass Mining (Bitcoin mining marketplace) in his most recent interview with the Best Business Show was asked by the host ‘what would it take for the United States to start mining cryptocurrency?’

Whit quickly replied “The United States is more than likely already mining”.

That wasn’t it though, Whit followed  it up by saying “They might have 20 megawatts running in the Midwest somewhere”.

Benzinga had more on the story:

Whit Gibbs, the CEO of U.S.-based Bitcoin BTC mining marketplace Compass Mining, believes the U.S. government may already be mining Bitcoin. In a Dec. 1 episode of Anthony Pompliano’s Best Business Show, Gibbs explained how nations around the world have strategically begun embracing Bitcoin.

When asked what it would take for the U.S. to start mining Bitcoin, Gibbs said: “The United States is already mining. Maybe.”“I know they might have 10 or 20 megawatts running somewhere in the Midwest, to test it out maybe,” he said.

How to invest in breakthrough cancer therapy? “It’s hypothetically speaking but it’s a matter of national security, right, when it comes to Bitcoin mining,” added the Compass Mining CEO.

Whit might be just talking out of his head but there’s a chance he saw something that nobody else has saw yet.
