Kamala Harris Is The Only Presidential Candidate Who Has Not Promised To Commute Sentence Of Ross Ulbricht

Vice President Kamala Harris is the only major presidential candidate who has yet to promise to commute the sentence of Silk Road founder Ross Ulbricht.

President Trump previously stated at the Libertarian National Convention that he would commute Ulbricht’s sentence on day one of his presidency.

Trump stated, “And if you vote for me, on Day One, I will commute the sentence of Ross Ulbricht,”

Independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has also floated the idea of commuting Ulbricht’s sentence and in an interview, shared, “I’m gonna look at Ross Ulbricht’s case, to see if he was justly convicted, or if he was being made an example of in order to discourage, you know, Bitcoin or the industry.”

I gotta be honest, feels like Kamala should commute Ross Ulbricht’s sentence before addressing the Bitcoin community. That’s the tables stakes.

Both Trump and RFK have promised to do that day 1.

Donald Trump promised to commute the sentence of Ross Ulbricht, the founder of the online illegal drug marketplace Silk Road, in a raucous speech before the Libertarian National Convention on Saturday night.

“And if you vote for me, on Day One, I will commute the sentence of Ross Ulbricht,” the former president said, generating cheers from the audience, moments after mentioning his plans to pardon supporters who stormed the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021.

Trump’s promise came during a speech designed to make overtures to Libertarian voters, who argue for the legalization of drugs and have long lobbied for the release of Ulbricht. Supporters of Ulbricht distributed hundreds of black and white signs that read “Free Ross” to the crowd, and Libertarians waved them manically in the moments after Trump’s announcement.

“It’s one of the things we wanted from his first term,” said Katherine Yeniscavich, a national committee member of the party.

“He wants Libertarian voters, and if he agreed to free Ross he would get a lot of votes,” she said before his speech.

RFK Jr: “I may pardon Ross Ulbricht if I find that his very lengthy sentence was the result of making an example of him to punish Bitcoin.”

United States presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. took to social media on Thursday, promising to free Silk Road founder Ross Ulbricht if elected this November.

RFK Jr. alluded to the draconian nature of Ulbricht’s two life sentences for what he characterized as “hosting an e-commerce platform,” and shared a petition to demand the release of the Silk Road founder from prison.
