President Trump: Bitcoin Has “Taken A Life Of Its Own”

After several years of former President Trump being somewhat hostile to Bitcoin and the broader cryptocurrency sector, he has seemingly softened his stance regarding blockchain money.

During a recent Fox News interview with Laura Ingraham, the 45th President was asked squarely about his position on Bitcoin.

The former President told the host that many people were beginning to embrace Bitcoin and utilizing it as a payment channel and that he could “live with it” one way or the other before calling for regulations and voicing his support for the U.S. dollar.

President Trump and his wife Melania have launched several NFT collections, and the former President even has meme coins named after him.

Here are President Trump’s full remarks to Laura Ingraham:

Tony Edward of the Thinking Crypto Podcast commented: “This is a very different tone, its softer, from what Donald Trump tweeted about Bitcoin when he was president. Bitcoin is breaking down psychological barriers seeping into the society, pop culture, and more. It can no longer be ignored and laughed at.”

Finbold provided the full quote from President Trump:

“But a lot of people are doing it [Bitcoin], and frankly, it has taken a life of its own. You probably have to do some regulation, as you know, but many people are embracing it. I’m seeing people wanting to pay Bitcoin, and you’re seeing something that’s interesting, so I can live with it one way or the other.”

However, not everyone was so convinced that the former President was sincere and had truly changed his deeply-held stance on Bitcoin and the broader cryptocurrency industry.

Contrast this to previous comments the former President has made, according to Market Watch:

He’s right: Their value is “based on thin air.” Your typical cryptocurrency is basically a “frequent flyers” program, only without any airline attached. You hope someone will accept your “miles” for something real. But there’s no guarantee.
