Ripple Puts XRP at Center Court in Expanding College Sports Push
• September 15, 2026 11:11 pm • CommentsRipple is taking XRP’s college strategy out of the research lab and putting it directly in front of sports fans.
The latest move is a multi-year partnership with Louisville Athletics that will place the XRP logo on Denny Crum Court for every men’s and women’s basketball home game. The deal also includes television-visible courtside signs, in-arena promotion, digital platforms and radio broadcasts.
Louisville Athletics said the existing Denny Crum insignia will remain inside the three-point arc. Ripple will also support financial and technology education for student-athletes and the broader campus community.
The university said XRP branding will extend beyond the hardwood to courtside signs visible on television, in-venue promotions, digital channels and radio broadcasts for both basketball programs. Financial terms were not disclosed in the announcement.
Athletic director Josh Heird framed the agreement as a way to add a new commercial partner without displacing the court’s tribute to Coach Crum. Learfield’s sports-property division helped bring the partnership together.
The arrangement begins this season and covers every Louisville home game, giving the XRP placement recurring arena, broadcast and digital exposure rather than a single launch-day appearance.

The Louisville agreement is the newest part of a broader push that now gives XRP a presence across several major college-sports settings.
CryptoSlate reported that the rollout includes Kansas uniforms, Florida’s football field and Louisville’s basketball court. That puts XRP in front of different fan bases across multiple sports while extending Ripple’s relationships with universities beyond academic research.
Kansas introduced an XRP patch across its athletic uniforms, while Florida added field branding at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium. Louisville’s permanent court placement gives the campaign a third format and repeated exposure throughout men’s and women’s basketball seasons.
The sequence unfolded over roughly ten weeks, showing a coordinated expansion rather than an isolated local sponsorship. Each agreement also includes an education component, allowing Ripple to connect the public branding with financial and technology programs on campus.
The court placement covers both Louisville basketball programs and every home game.

The contrast with Ripple’s older university work is notable. Through its University Blockchain Research Initiative, the company says it supports more than 60 universities across 27 countries, more than 800 new or expanded fintech courses and roughly 1,500 academic blockchain research projects.
Ripple says the network supplies funding, technical resources and strategic guidance to academic partners working on blockchain adoption, interoperability and financial technology. Its university accelerator also connects founders with technical coaching, mentors and capital networks as they try to turn campus projects into market-ready products.
Those programs focus on research, technical development and startup support. The sports agreements serve a different purpose: mass awareness.
A court logo seen throughout a basketball season reaches people who may never attend a blockchain seminar or read a technical paper.
That distinction is important for investors. A sponsorship can expand recognition, but it does not by itself create new XRP transaction volume or guarantee adoption.
The immediate value is visibility, while the education commitments give the partnerships a campus component beyond advertising.
Kansas described its earlier agreement as the first time a cryptocurrency would appear on uniforms across a major college athletic program. Louisville now adds permanent court branding to the mix.
Together with the Florida field placement, Ripple is testing several ways to make XRP familiar to mainstream sports audiences.
The research network and sports deals now give Ripple two separate university channels: technical development inside academic programs and recurring public exposure through athletics.
The strategy is straightforward: combine long-term university relationships with high-frequency exposure in packed venues and national broadcasts. Whether that recognition translates into meaningful network use will take longer to measure, but XRP’s college-sports footprint is clearly getting larger.
