Ron DeSantis Seeks To Abolish The IRS If Elected President

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is one of the multiple pro-crypto candidates that is running in the presidential election in 2024.

In addition to being very pro-crypto, he also made a bold claim that he would abolish the IRS if he was elected president.

DeSantis says that he intends to reduce the size of the government in general and would shut down many other government agencies as well.

Whether or not it is actually possible to abolish the IRS is certainly something that many are questioning, but it would definitely be positive news for crypto.

This is not the first time that DeSantis has talked about such ideas, but it is clear that his intentions are very different from many traditional presidential candidates.

Watcher.guru reports:

Apart from abolishing the revenue service statutory body, the presidential candidate also seeks to shut down three other agencies, i.e. Education, Commerce, and Energy. In a recent interview with Fox News’, DeSantis said,

“If Congress will work with me on doing that, we’ll be able to reduce the size and scope of government. If Congress won’t go that far, I’m going to use those agencies to push back against woke ideology and against the leftism that we see creeping into all institutions of American life.”

DeSantis is looking forward to “fundamentally re-constitutionalize” the government. Further elaborating on the same, he added,

“We talked about draining the swamp in 2016; that didn’t happen. I think the better analogy is breaking the swamp.”

The IRS is mainly responsible for collecting taxes and the current regulatory environment is not favorable when it comes to taxing gains from digital assets.

Many within the industry are against Biden’s stance on crypto given that Biden has talked about crypto being a “tax loop hole”.

Of course, many within the crypto community disagreed with such statements and argued that the tax on the crypto industry is detrimental to the growth of crypto in general.

DeSantis continues to call the IRS a “corrupt” entity which may explain his support on Bitcoin as it is an asset that is not controlled by any centralized authority.

Bitcoin.com concludes:

Building on his stance, DeSantis didn’t mince words when he asserted that he perceives the IRS as a “corrupt” entity, highlighting that this cabinet-level agency is far from being an ally to the ordinary citizen or taxpayer.

During his conversation with MacCallum on Wednesday, he voiced his belief in the necessity of a profound reconstitution of the government.

Reflecting on the unfulfilled promise of draining the swamp back in 2016, DeSantis offered a more potent metaphor, suggesting the urgent need to shatter the very foundations of the swamp itself.

He emphasized, “We need to fundamentally re-constitutionalize the government. We talked about draining the swamp in 2016; that didn’t happen. I think the better analogy is breaking the swamp.”
