Top lawyers from both Ripple and Coinbase met up recently to discuss several concerns with the crypto landscape in the United States and abroad.

Ripple’s Stuart Alderoty and Coinbase’s chief legal officer, Paul Grewal took to Twitter and posted pictures of themselves together at an offsite meeting.”

Alderoty tweeted “Thanks Paul Grewal really appreciate you taking the time to chat with Ripple’s team legal at our offsite!”

The post sent XRP holders ecstatic as many of them speculated that a Coinbase listing is now in the mix.

Here’s the tweets:

Per ZY Crypto:

The top lawyers from Ripple and Coinbase convened for a recent offsite meeting to discuss pressing concerns in the vibrant crypto landscape.

Coinbase’s chief legal officer, Paul Grewal, took to Twitter earlier today to express his appreciation to Ripple’s Stuart Alderoty for being invited to the meeting and suggested more meetings in the future. Alderoty then tweeted his gratitude to Grewal for taking the time to connect with the Ripple legal team.

Details of the meeting were sparse, but both Ripple and Coinbase are currently at an impasse with the U.S. SEC. Ripple Labs was sued back in December 2020 for allegedly selling unregistered securities in the form of XRP.

On the other hand, Coinbase — which has become the second-largest crypto exchange, trailing only Binance — was slapped with a Wells Notice by the SEC in March over potential violations of U.S. securities law. In a document last week, the San Francisco-headquartered platform pushed back against the SEC’s enforcement notice.

Crypto Basic was more pessimistic aout the eet up:

Members of the XRP community are still commenting on the recent meeting between Coinbase’s Chief Legal Officer Paul Grewal and Ripple’s General Counsel Stuart Alderoty.

Some XRP enthusiasts believe the meeting might prompt Coinbase to relist XRP on its trading platform. Reacting to the development, a famous influencer of the sixth-largest cryptocurrency asked whether XRP listing on Coinbase will “follow” the meeting.

Attorney Morgan Says No “Coinbase XRP Listing”
However, Australian-based pro-crypto lawyer Bill Morgan does not think Coinbase will relist XRP due to the meeting between Alderoty and Grewal.

“No, a Coinbase XRP listing will not follow,” said Morgan.

The seasoned lawyer, who has closely followed the SEC vs. Ripple lawsuit, asked why Ripple would expect Coinbase to relist XRP when it refused to add the coin to its liquidity hub service.
