Bitcoin and Ether ETFs Lose $530 Million as the Tech Rout Reaches Crypto
• November 6, 2026 8:06 am • CommentsCryptoโs latest selloff did not stop with leveraged traders. It reached the regulated fund market too.
U.S. spot Bitcoin and Ether exchange-traded funds posted roughly $530 million in combined net outflows on November 5, according to CryptoSlate. The withdrawals landed as a sharp technology-stock rout pushed investors away from risk and erased a short-lived recovery in crypto fund demand.
Bitcoin funds accounted for about $430 million of the retreat. Ether products lost close to $100 million more.
That split matters because it shows the pressure was not confined to one coin, one issuer or one corner of the market.
The same risk-off move hit spot prices and derivatives. Bitcoin fell back toward the mid-$70,000s, Ether slid harder on a percentage basis, and a cascade of leveraged positions was liquidated as volatility accelerated.

The important distinction is between forced selling and fund redemptions. Liquidations happen automatically when leveraged positions can no longer meet margin requirements.
ETF outflows reflect investors choosing to pull capital from regulated products. When both occur together, a selloff has more than one engine.
CoinDesk reported that Bitcoin later recovered the $76,000 level, but the rebound did not erase the fund-flow warning. The market still had to absorb hundreds of millions of dollars leaving spot products while technology shares were under pressure.
The November 5 withdrawals also followed another weak session earlier in the week. Farside Investors recorded a $398.6 million net outflow from U.S. Bitcoin ETFs on November 2, led by a $405.3 million withdrawal from BlackRockโs IBIT.

That sequence makes the latest figure harder to dismiss as a single bad print. Institutional demand can return quickly, but this weekโs pattern shows that ETF buyers are not immune to the same macro fear moving stocks and derivatives.
The next test is straightforward: whether Bitcoin can hold its recovery while fund flows stabilize. If spot prices bounce but the ETFs keep bleeding, the rebound will be leaning more heavily on crypto-native buyers.
If flows turn positive again, the selloff may look more like a violent reset than a lasting break in institutional demand.
