BlackRock’s IBIT Takes a $405 Million Hit as Bitcoin ETF Money Turns Negative Again

The institutional bid behind Bitcoin just hit another rough patch.

BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust, better known as IBIT, recorded $405.3 million in net outflows on Monday. That was the fund’s largest daily exit since June 26, according to data reported by Cointelegraph.

The headline number is even more striking because the broader U.S. spot Bitcoin ETF group lost $398.6 million on the day. In other words, IBIT’s redemptions were larger than the category’s total loss because Fidelity’s Wise Origin Bitcoin Fund managed to attract $6.7 million while the rest of the lineup was essentially flat.

IBIT’s scale makes its daily flow particularly important. The fund has been the dominant institutional gateway into spot Bitcoin exposure, so a large redemption day can overwhelm modest buying elsewhere in the ETF complex.

That does not mean BlackRock itself made a directional call against Bitcoin. ETF flows reflect investor creations and redemptions processed through the fund structure.

But the result still matters: clients pulled capital from the market’s biggest vehicle at the same time Bitcoin was struggling to hold the mid-$76,000 range.

Farside Investors’ daily ledger showed the exact split clearlyโ€”$405.3 million out of IBIT, $6.7 million into FBTC, and no reported movement across the other U.S. spot Bitcoin funds.

Ether funds also lost roughly $139.7 million on the day. That extends a difficult stretch for the crypto ETF market and suggests the move was not isolated to one product or one asset.

Bitcoin briefly traded below $76,400, its weakest level since August. Investors were already digesting wider market volatility and fresh concerns about crypto infrastructure after the massive Binance breach.

One ugly day does not erase the long-term institutional adoption story. It does show that ETF access cuts both ways.

The same vehicles that made it easier for large pools of capital to enter Bitcoin can transmit risk reduction just as efficiently when sentiment turns.

The next few sessions will tell us whether Monday was a single wave of de-risking or the beginning of a more persistent institutional retreat. For now, the market has a clear warning: its biggest spot Bitcoin fund is no longer providing an automatic cushion.
