Crypto ETFs Enter October in the Red as Ether’s Losing Streak Deepens
• October 11, 2026 11:06 pm • CommentsOctober has turned into a broad test of conviction for U.S. crypto exchange-traded funds. Bitcoin, Ether and Solana products are all underwater for the month, and the weakness is no longer confined to one bad session or one asset.
Decrypt reports that spot Bitcoin ETFs were down a net $386.3 million through the first seven trading days of October. A modest $21.1 million inflow on Friday softened the damage, but it did not erase back-to-back exits of $484.9 million on Wednesday and $244.1 million on Thursday.
That sequence matters more than the monthly total alone. The month began with nearly $293 million flowing into Bitcoin funds across October 1 and October 2, followed by about $119 million on October 6.
Investors then reversed course hard enough to wipe out those gains and push the month into negative territory.
Rolling demand still offers some support, but momentum has cooled as Bitcoin consolidates above $80,000.
Bitcoin ETF demand is slowing, but the recovery still has support.

• The pace of buying has started to decelerate, coinciding with Bitcoin's consolidation above $80K.

The sharper warning is coming from Ether funds. According to the same tally, spot Ether ETFs lost about $56 million on Friday, extending their outflow streak to nine consecutive trading days.
They have shed $635 million in October and nearly $700 million across the full streak.
Ether’s worst day in that run came on October 6, when the products lost nearly $202 million. Bitcoin funds posted roughly $119 million in inflows that same day.
That split shows investors were making a selective decision about where to keep exposure.

Solana funds are smaller, but they are pointing in the same direction. They lost $3.8 million on Friday for a fifth straight outflow day, taking October’s net loss to $24.8 million.
Their only positive session this month brought in $1.3 million on October 2.
None of this means institutional crypto demand has disappeared. Bitcoin ETFs still hold about $100.6 billion in net assets and have attracted $57.6 billion in cumulative net inflows since launch.
Ether products have $14.5 billion in net assets and $13.2 billion in cumulative inflows. Solana funds have accumulated $137.9 million.
The near-term signal is narrower: fresh money is no longer arriving fast enough to absorb every bout of selling. Bitcoin has enough accumulated demand to bend without breaking, while Ether and Solana are showing how quickly smaller or less-established ETF markets can lose momentum.
October’s next few sessions will tell investors whether this is a temporary reset after September’s roughly $3 billion Bitcoin inflow streak or the beginning of a longer defensive rotation.
For now, the scoreboard is clear. The three largest U.S. spot crypto ETF categories are all in the red, and Ether is taking the hardest hit.
