Former Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao has been hit with new terms and conditions as part of his bond agreement with U.S. prosecutors.

U.S. authorities previously submitted a request for Zhao to surrender his passports ahead of sentencing. Prosecutors have long claimed that Zhao poses a flight risk and have denied his requests to return home several times.

According to the latest reports, Zhao has officially been ordered to surrender all his passports, including his Canadian passport.

Could this be a sign that U.S. officials intend to jail Zhao?

Molly White provided the corresponding court documents and confirmed: “Former Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao has been ordered to surrender his Canadian passport. His bond conditions have also been updated to reflect previous rulings prohibiting him from leaving the US.”

Protos reports:

The ex-Binance chief will also give up his Canadian passport to a third-party custodian who must accompany him whenever he travels anywhere that requires identification.

In addition, the filing states Zhao “may not apply for or obtain a new passport or travel document from any country without the Court’s permission.”

Coingape clarified:

With the government’s modification still insisting on the ‘no travel’ out of the U.S., it looks like the crypto pioneer may have to comply, at least until his sentencing. Changpeng Zhao is allowed to travel within the United States but this must be done after the Pretrial Services has been duly notified.
