XRP units leaving two escrow chambers toward an open liquidity route

Ripple Unlocks 1 Billion XRP as Binance Reopens a Major Liquidity Route

Ripple’s November escrow release landed at an unusually sensitive moment for XRP liquidity.

One billion XRP left escrow in two 500 million-token transactions early Sunday, just as Binance prepared to restore XRP withdrawals after the exchange’s record security breach.

Those are two separate events. Together, they put a bright spotlight on the difference between tokens becoming available and tokens actually being sold.

U.Today reported that the scheduled release was split into two equal transactions valued at roughly $626.4 million each at the time of the alerts. The release follows Ripple’s long-running monthly escrow mechanism, which was designed to make the company’s XRP distribution more predictable.

The report also emphasized that the full gross release does not necessarily remain available to the market. Ripple has historically returned a large share of monthly unlocks to new escrow while retaining a smaller portion for operations, liquidity and ecosystem activity.

That history turns the follow-up transactions into the key evidence. The two releases confirm what left escrow at the scheduled time, but they do not establish how much XRP will remain outside escrow or move toward trading venues.

The publication tied the release to Ripple’s original decision to place 55 billion XRP in time-locked escrow. That mechanism publishes the release schedule in advance, reducing surprise even when the market debate around each monthly event remains intense.

One billion unlocked does not mean one billion sold

The headline number is gross, not net.

XRP Insights recorded two 500 million XRP releases at 00:00:02 UTC in its on-ledger escrow tracker. Its historical data also shows why the next transactions matter: Ripple has frequently returned a large share of each monthly release to new escrow rather than leaving the full amount outside the system.

The tracker identified two Ripple-owned accounts and two completed EscrowFinish transactions for the November cycle. It also showed that 700 million XRP was returned to escrow after each monthly billion-token release from January through October 2026.

That pattern is evidence, not a guarantee for November. It provides the correct baseline while the market waits for any new EscrowCreate transactions tied to this cycle.

Until the re-escrow activity is visible, no one can responsibly treat the full billion as immediate circulating supply. And even the portion that remains outside escrow is not automatically headed to an exchange order book.

That does not make the release irrelevant. It means traders should watch the net amount and the destination of subsequent transfers instead of reacting to the gross unlock alone.

Binance reopens an important XRP route

The timing is notable because Binance also listed XRP Ledger among the networks included in its phased withdrawal restoration. For several days, customers could see balances on the platform without having the normal freedom to move assets off the exchange.

Restoring XRP withdrawals reconnects a major venue to the wider XRP Ledger. It can release pent-up transfers, but that activity may include customers moving XRP into self-custody as well as transfers to other trading venues.

A withdrawal is not automatically a sale.

The liquidity picture has three moving parts

For XRP holders, the immediate setup is not one simple supply event.

The first variable is Ripple’s net release after any new escrow transactions. The second is how much customer XRP begins moving once Binance’s withdrawal route is fully restored.

The third is whether those transfers flow toward self-custody, other exchanges or longer-term institutional custody.

Price alone cannot separate those motives. On-ledger destinations and exchange balance changes will provide the better evidence.

The market should also avoid double-counting. The monthly escrow release was scheduled long before the Binance breach.

The exchange restart is a recovery step, not a new Ripple distribution decision.

What to watch next

The cleanest confirmation will come from Ripple’s follow-up escrow transactions. If the usual large portion returns to escrow, the net supply change will be much smaller than the billion-token headline.

If less is returned, that would be the genuine change worth examining.

At Binance, the important question is whether XRP Ledger withdrawals process normally and remain available as the staged restart expands.

One billion XRP has been unlocked. The amount that stays liquid—and where it actually goes—will tell the real story.
