Strategy’s Bitcoin Buying Streak Returns as Holdings Hit 847,666 BTC
• September 28, 2026 11:11 pm • CommentsStrategy is buying Bitcoin in consecutive weeks again, and the renewed pace has pushed its treasury to another record.
The company acquired 1,665 Bitcoin for $142.7 million during the week ended September 27, according to CryptoSlate. The average purchase price was $85,681 per coin.
That followed a 950 BTC purchase one week earlier. Together, the two buys mark Strategy’s first back-to-back weekly Bitcoin acquisitions since June and reverse the small net reduction it had posted earlier in the third quarter.
The shift matters because Strategy remains the clearest public-market test of whether corporate Bitcoin accumulation can continue through sharp swings in price, financing conditions and the company’s own securities.
The same disclosure shows that Strategy funded the week through its common-stock program while also spending more on STRC preferred-stock repurchases than on Bitcoin. That split turns the new buying streak into a broader capital-allocation test.
A Record Treasury, With the Buying Pace Picking Up
Strategy now reports 847,666 BTC acquired for roughly $63.9 billion, or an average of $75,437 per coin. At the market levels cited in the report, that treasury was worth about $70.7 billion.
The company has added 175,166 BTC during 2026. Its latest purchase was about 75% larger than the prior week’s buy, a notable change after a stretch of purchases, pauses and occasional sales.
The two latest buys returned Strategy’s third-quarter accumulation to positive territory. The company also directed substantial capital toward repurchases of its STRC preferred stock.

Bitcoin accumulation for Q3 is now back in positive territory, with 175,166 BTC acquired YTD.
The quarter still has 3 trading days to go.
But the standout metric, in my opinion, was $STRC buybacks.

The quarter-to-date change is modest compared with the company’s full treasury, but the direction is important. Strategy had sold some Bitcoin earlier in the quarter.
The two new purchases more than offset those sales, leaving it with a net increase of 1,666 BTC for the quarter with three trading days remaining.
Strategy has now bought back all the Bitcoin it sold during the quarter and then some. That extends its run of quarters with net Bitcoin growth to 24.

Strategy Is Balancing Bitcoin With Support for STRC
The Bitcoin purchase was only one side of Strategy’s capital allocation. The company sold about 1.47 million MSTR shares for $246.2 million in net proceeds during the week, while leaving $18.84 billion of additional issuance capacity under its at-the-market program.
It also repurchased roughly 1.53 million shares of its variable-rate STRC preferred stock for $151.7 million. That was slightly more than it spent on Bitcoin during the same period.
STRC has recovered to around $99 after trading well below its $100 stated value during the year. Strategy has spent more than $1 billion supporting the preferred security under a $2 billion repurchase program, while STRC currently carries a 12% annual dividend.
This makes the next disclosure more interesting than a simple “did Strategy buy?” question. Investors will be watching whether the company extends the Bitcoin streak into a third week, how much equity it issues to fund that activity, and whether continued STRC support absorbs more capital than Bitcoin itself.
For Bitcoin, the immediate takeaway is straightforward: the largest corporate holder is back to adding coins in consecutive weeks, and it still has substantial financing capacity available. The size and durability of the next buy will show whether this is a brief quarter-end reset or the start of another sustained accumulation run.
