Strategy Wants to Pay Preferred Dividends Every Day—Including Weekends
• September 25, 2026 11:22 am • CommentsStrategy wants to turn the dividend calendar for four of its preferred stocks into an everyday event—even on weekends and holidays.
The Bitcoin treasury company is proposing daily dividend accrual for STRF, STRC, STRK and STRD. Payments would go out on the next business day, while the underlying economics of each security would remain unchanged.
That is a striking change in cadence, not a promise of extra money. The pitch is that smaller, more frequent accruals could make the preferred shares trade more smoothly and appeal to a wider pool of income-focused investors.
Michael Saylor announced the proposal directly, saying Strategy believes the change could support price stability, liquidity and demand.

What changes—and what does not
Investors often hear “daily dividend” and assume the annual payout is increasing. Strategy is explicitly saying otherwise.
The proposal changes the timing of accrual and payment, not the economics promised by the securities.
CoinDesk reports that the plan covers all four U.S.-listed preferred series. Each instrument has a different structure, but all sit inside Strategy’s broader effort to finance Bitcoin exposure with a stack of common equity and preferred capital.
Under the proposal, dividends would accrue every calendar day, including Saturdays, Sundays and holidays, then be paid on the next business day. Strategy says the economic terms would not change, making this a timing amendment rather than a higher stated payout.
The company’s stated case is that daily accrual can support price stability, liquidity and demand. More frequent accrual may reduce the size of the periodic ex-dividend adjustment and give income investors less idle time between earning a distribution and receiving cash.
CoinDesk places the proposal alongside a calmer Bitcoin session near $84,000 and Strategy’s continuing effort to turn Bitcoin exposure into several public-market products. That context matters because the preferred shares are designed to attract investors who want income and seniority without simply owning MSTR common stock.
Daily accrual could reduce the abrupt price adjustment that comes with a less frequent ex-dividend date. It may also shorten the wait between earning and receiving cash, depending on settlement mechanics and broker processing.
There is still a vote. Until investors approve the amendments and Strategy implements them, the existing terms remain in place.

A new front in Strategy’s Bitcoin financing experiment
Strategy has spent years turning its balance sheet into a public-market bridge to Bitcoin. The preferred shares are the income side of that experiment: investors accept company and Bitcoin-related risk in exchange for distributions and a place higher in the capital structure than common stock.
Moving to daily dividends would make those instruments feel less like traditional preferred shares and more like continuously accruing digital credit. That is clearly part of the branding, but the market will judge the idea on ordinary measures—liquidity, price stability, payout reliability and risk.
The proposal is unusual enough to command attention. Whether it becomes more than a clever payment schedule will depend on how investors vote and how the four securities trade after any change takes effect.
