STX Surges 50% as Stacks Lines Up Its Next Bitcoin Bond
• October 13, 2026 11:07 am • CommentsStacks has become one of the clearest standouts in a crypto market that has otherwise struggled to find direction.
STX, the token behind the Bitcoin-focused network, has climbed more than 50% over the past four weeks, according to CoinDesk. The move puts it well ahead of Bitcoin and Ether over the same stretch and arrives just as Stacks prepares another round of its Bitcoin-staking bond program.
CoinDesk reports that STX added roughly 10% in 24 hours and about 14% over seven days before extending its four-week gain past 50%. The publication tied growing attention to Stacks’ non-custodial Bitcoin-staking design, which lets BTC holders retain control of their private keys while committing Bitcoin to a time-locked position.
Participation also requires STX to be bonded alongside the Bitcoin, connecting demand for staking capacity to a temporary reduction in the token’s liquid supply. The previous bonding round filled about 500 BTC of capacity and involved more than 6.7 million STX, while a third round is expected to open around November 10.
The rally is not happening in a vacuum. Stacks has been pushing incentives meant to put more Bitcoin to work across applications on its network.

The key feature is self-custody. Bond participants do not hand their Bitcoin to Stacks; the BTC remains time-locked on the Bitcoin network while the paired STX position provides capacity inside the program.
That structure gives the market a straightforward scarcity thesis. More BTC entering a bond can mean more STX temporarily locked beside it, though the actual size of the next round is not yet known and no future demand is guaranteed.
4/ Bonding Period 3 opens Nov ~10.
Participants can apply for self-custodial capacity, and pooled Bitcoin staking runs through Stacks ecosystem partners.

Public market data placed STX near $0.41 on October 12, with a market capitalization around $725 million. That still leaves the token far below its old cycle highs, but the recent outperformance shows traders are responding to a concrete use for locking it rather than a purely cosmetic roadmap update.
There is also a reason to keep the celebration measured. A 50% run in four weeks can pull demand forward, and staking incentives do not erase token volatility or smart-contract risk.
Bonding Period 3 will provide the next clean test. If Bitcoin capacity fills again and millions of STX leave the liquid market with it, the scarcity argument gets fresh evidence. If participation slows, traders will find out how much of this rally was anticipation.
