Webull Brings Crypto Trading to Canada on Coinbase’s Institutional Rails
• August 31, 2026 11:12 pm • CommentsWebull is bringing cryptocurrency trading into its Canadian brokerage, and it is leaning on Coinbase rather than trying to build the trading and custody machinery from scratch.
The move puts digital assets beside stocks, exchange-traded funds and options for Canadian users. It also gives Coinbase another major distribution partner for the infrastructure business it has been building behind the scenes.
In its Coinbase announcement, the company said Webull Canada will use its Crypto-as-a-Service platform for custody and trading, giving the brokerage access to Coinbase liquidity, institutional infrastructure and the same underlying partnership model already used for Webull customers in the United States, Brazil and Australia. The statement also identifies Webull Canada Crypto Limited as a CIRO-regulated order-execution-only dealer, says Coinbase Canada is registered as a restricted dealer across every province and territory, and makes clear that the expansion is meant to place crypto inside Webull’s existing multi-asset experience while Coinbase handles the difficult backend work that a brokerage would otherwise need to build and operate itself.
The companies set out the infrastructure relationship in this post:
Demand for crypto in Canada is growing. Coinbase is at the center of bringing financial institutions onchain.
Today, we’re the crypto infrastructure partner behind @WebullGlobal’s Canadian expansion.

This is more than a price tracker or a referral to a separate exchange. Coinbase supplies the core trading and custody rails, while Webull keeps the customer relationship inside its brokerage experience.
Cointelegraph found that Webull’s Canadian site currently displays ten cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin, Ethereum and Solana, putting several of the market’s largest assets beside the stocks, ETFs and options already offered to retail clients. Its report places the launch inside Canada’s broader regulatory transition, noting that policymakers are working toward clearer stablecoin rules and that Webull is adding Canada to a crypto footprint that already reaches the United States, Australia and Brazil, which makes the announcement both a product expansion and a test of whether a familiar brokerage can draw investors who have avoided stand-alone crypto exchanges while preserving the convenience of one multi-asset account under a regulated Canadian dealer with established custody and trading support, and while keeping the familiar risks of volatile assets visible to customers entering the market through a conventional brokerage.
The developer-side explanation shows why that model can travel:
Webull is expanding to Canada. With custody, trading, and USDC services provided by @CoinbaseInsto and our Crypto-as-a-Service platform.

The timing is not accidental. An Ontario Securities Commission survey cited by Coinbase found that crypto ownership rose to 25% from 10% in 2023, while awareness reached 90% and more respondents reported using registered platforms, giving brokerages evidence that digital assets are becoming a normal portfolio question rather than a niche request.
There is still an important line for investors to notice. Webull Canada Crypto Limited is regulated by the Canadian Investment Regulatory Organization and is a member of the Canadian Investor Protection Fund.
Crypto assets themselves are not covered by CIPF. Regulated access does not erase asset risk or make digital tokens equivalent to insured cash.
For Coinbase, the expansion is another proof point that its opportunity is larger than its own retail exchange. Every brokerage or financial company that wants to offer crypto without building custody, liquidity and compliance systems internally is a potential infrastructure customer.
For Webull, the pitch is convenience: customers can reach major crypto assets through a platform they already use for traditional markets. Crypto is moving further into mainstream finance through brokerage accounts people already have.
