Why Was MetaMask Mysteriously REMOVED From Apple Store?

The MetaMask mobile app was mysteriously missing from Apple’s online app store for several hours this morning.
Many in the crypto community feared the worst and believed malicious intent from the big tech sector. It is no secret that Web 2.0 firms and older tech giants are openly hostile to crypto.
However, MetaMask was quick to quell the fears and reassure users that the outage was only temporary and due to technical issues—not Apple delisting the app.
According to MetaMask, the app is once again available for download on Apple devices.
Initially, outlets like Watcher Guru reported that the popular de-fi wallet was removed from Apple’s App Store:

MetaMask assured users: “We’re aware that MetaMask isn’t currently available for download on the App Store. This is not related to anything malicious and our team is working hard to resolve it ASAP.”

MetaMask faces challenges from Big Tech marketplaces for the second time. In December 2019, the company was suspended from Google Play’s app store for allegedly violating the company’s financial services guidelines.
Google cited its policy prohibiting cryptocurrency mining on mobile devices and promptly rejected a MetaMask appeal to reverse the ban.
Since that time, the app has come back online and is back on the app store. MetaMask announced this afternoon: “As promised, we’re back on the Apple app store. Sorry for the inconvenience!”

Earlier today, Axios confirmed:
After a brief period of unavailability on the Apple App Store, the MetaMask crypto app is once again available. In a follow-up, a spokesperson for the product ascribed the disappearance to an operational error on their end.
