JUST DAO Burns 170 Million JST as Its First Buyback Phase Ends
• October 18, 2026 11:19 am • CommentsJUST DAO says it has finished the fifth round of its JST buyback-and-burn program, removing another 170.7 million tokens while closing the reserve-backed first phase of the plan.
The burn is substantial. The more important question is what happens now that the original reserve has been fully deployed.
CryptoSlate published a paid partner report presented by JustLend DAO saying the October 16 transaction destroyed exactly 170,723,144 JST, equal to about 1.72% of total supply and carrying an estimated value of $23.53 million. JUST DAO’s official posts independently repeat those core figures and say the burn can be checked on-chain.
The group says five rounds have now removed roughly 1.881 billion JST, reducing supply from 9.9 billion to about 8.02 billion. That is a cumulative contraction of roughly 19% over one year, funded with more than $100 million that the project says came primarily from JustLend DAO operating revenue.
The five rounds were executed in October 2025, January 2026, April 2026, July 2026, and October 2026. Their reported burn amounts declined from about 559 million JST in the first round to 170.7 million in the fifth, while the dollar value deployed varied with token price and the capital available for each quarter.
The disclosure matters because it is sponsored material, not independent financial analysis. The token and dollar totals should be read as project claims, while the two official JUST DAO posts provide the direct public record for the latest burn.
📢Announcement: just:native Buyback & Burn Phase 5 Completed

The original reserve is finished
When the program began, more than $59 million of accumulated revenue was earmarked for the buyback plan. Thirty percent was deployed up front, with the remaining 70% scheduled across later rounds.
JUST DAO now says that remaining reserve has been fully used. That makes this fifth burn a transition point rather than another routine quarterly transaction.
The first phase also contemplated revenue from USDD’s cross-chain operations once cumulative earnings reached $10 million. According to the sponsored disclosure, that threshold was not reached, leaving JustLend DAO’s reserve and quarterly operating income to carry the program.
That distinction is easy to miss when the headline number is 170 million tokens. A buyback funded from accumulated reserves can be large and real, but a durable program ultimately needs recurring cash flow that continues after the reserve is gone.
Five burns changed the supply math
The first round reportedly removed about 559 million JST. The next four removed roughly 525 million, 271 million, 355 million, and 170.7 million tokens.
Combined, those transactions cut nearly one-fifth of the original supply. JUST DAO also says every burn followed a disclosed schedule and remains verifiable through on-chain records.
🚀One more milestone for $JST.

Burning tokens shrinks supply; it does not create buyers. JST’s market price will still depend on demand, protocol revenue, liquidity, ownership concentration, and the pace of future distributions.
It is also worth separating the burn’s accounting value from fresh market demand. The reported $23.53 million figure is an estimate attached to the tokens removed, while the program’s economic weight depends on how the purchases were executed and how much recurring revenue supports future rounds.
The next phase has a higher bar
JUST DAO says the upgraded mechanism will broaden its funding base to include revenue from newer products such as GasFree. Specific allocation rules, timing, and execution cadence have not yet been published.
That makes the next announcement more important than another large burn total. Investors need to see how much recurring revenue is available, which products supply it, and whether the next phase keeps the same transparent schedule.
For now, the fifth burn closes the original plan with a measurable result: 170,723,144 JST removed in the latest round and about 1.881 billion removed across all five. The program has proven it can execute from a reserve; the next test is whether it can keep doing so after that reserve is gone.
