Bitcoin and Ethereum coins connected by a stream of shifting capital

One Whale Rotates $159 Million From Bitcoin Into Ether

One large crypto holder has spent nearly two weeks making the same trade over and over: less Bitcoin, more Ether.

The wallet sold a total of 1,917.7 Bitcoin worth about $159 million and bought 64,545 Ether worth roughly $155 million over 11 days. The scale is significant, but one wallet alone cannot prove that a broad market rotation has arrived.

The trade matters because the wallet did not move to cash or stablecoins. It shifted capital directly from the largest cryptocurrency into its closest rival by market value.

Lookonchain reported that the latest leg involved selling 246.25 Bitcoin for about $20.64 million and buying 8,286 Ether for about the same amount. Spreading the swaps across multiple days suggests a deliberate position change rather than one panicked exit.

Earlier in the sequence, the same wallet had sold 1,074.36 Bitcoin and bought 36,159 Ether in only three days.

By day 11, the cumulative dollar values on both sides were still close, which supports the view that this was a direct asset rotation rather than a general reduction in crypto exposure. The wallet’s owner remains unidentified, and the public transaction trail does not reveal whether the Ether was intended for staking, lending or a later trade.

There are several possible explanations. The holder may expect Ether to outperform Bitcoin, may be adjusting collateral across decentralized-finance positions or may simply be reducing exposure to one asset after a strong run.

What the blockchain shows is movement. It does not reveal the owner’s identity, investment horizon or complete portfolio.

That distinction is important because whale trades are often treated as forecasts. A nine-figure wallet can be early, wrong, hedged somewhere else or operating under constraints that have nothing to do with a retail investor’s outlook.

FXStreet noted that the rotation came while Ether was trading below $2,400 and approaching support near $2,355. The report also pointed to other large wallets accumulating Ether, giving the move a broader context without turning one address into a market-wide verdict.

Ether had failed to hold above its short-term 20-day and 50-day exponential moving averages, so the whale was buying into technical weakness rather than chasing a confirmed breakout. A break under the cited $2,355 support would leave the trade exposed to more downside even if the long-term thesis proves right.

The cleanest bullish reading is that a sophisticated holder sees better relative value in Ether. Ethereum still sits at the center of decentralized finance, stablecoin settlement and tokenized-asset activity, so a large buyer could be positioning for renewed demand across those lanes.

The cautious reading is just as reasonable. Ether remained under technical pressure, and one whale’s buying can be overwhelmed if the wider market keeps cutting risk.

For traders, the next signal is whether the address keeps rotating and whether other large wallets follow. Continued Bitcoin sales paired with fresh Ether accumulation would make the pattern harder to dismiss as an isolated portfolio adjustment.

Until then, the transaction trail supports one firm conclusion: somebody with serious capital has made a sustained bet on Ether over Bitcoin. The market still has to decide whether that bet was insight or simply size.
