XRP Exchange Wallets Add 84 Million Tokens, but the Data Does Not Prove a Sell-Off
• October 15, 2026 11:27 pm • CommentsExchange-linked wallets added nearly 84 million XRP in three days while the token traded near $1.30. That is a real supply signal, but it is not proof that 84 million tokens were sold.
CryptoSlate reports that the same 699 wallets tracked across 24 exchanges rose by 83.94 million XRP from roughly 08:00 UTC on October 12 through 08:01 UTC on October 15, a three-day custody increase of about 0.38%. The total climbed from about 21.973 billion to 22.057 billion XRP without any new wallet or exchange being added to the tracked set.
The daily increases were 17.75 million XRP, 35.21 million XRP, and 30.98 million XRP. Those three readings add to the reported 83.94 million-token change.
Because the wallet count and exchange count stayed constant, the increase was not created by the tracker suddenly discovering a large new address. Coins moved into the existing tracked set.
What happened after that movement is the unresolved part.
CryptoSlate recorded XRP near $1.32 at about 14:56 UTC on October 15, with roughly $3.12 billion in reported 24-hour turnover. That market snapshot shows active trading, but it does not connect the tracked wallet increase to completed sales.
XRP Insights showed a separate seven-day increase of 82.35 million XRP from October 8 through October 15. Binance-attributed wallets accounted for 54.61 million XRP of that weekly net gain, followed by smaller increases at Upbit, Kraken, Coinbase, and Bithumb.
The weekly and three-day totals overlap, so they cannot be added together. They are two views of the same custody trend over different windows.
CryptoQuant said XRP whale inflows to Binance reached a seven-month high, warning that more coins available on centralized exchanges can raise the risk of selling pressure.

The word risk matters. An exchange deposit can precede a sale, but it can also reflect internal wallet management, customer custody, collateral movement, or a transfer between tracked and untracked addresses.
The XRP Insights dataset includes hot wallets, deposit hubs, and cold-storage addresses. Some exchange-controlled balances can represent customer funds or institutional custody rather than inventory resting on an order book.

Shared exchange addresses make the distinction even more important. A destination tag tells an exchange which customer account should receive a deposit, but the public ledger does not reveal that customer’s intended order, timing, or reason for moving the tokens.
Venue-level changes were also mixed. Bybit’s tracked holdings declined by 4.22 million XRP over the weekly window, while SBI VC Trade and Bitfinex each fell by roughly 3.4 million.
Uphold declined by about 3.04 million XRP. Those outflows partially offset the larger additions elsewhere.
CryptoQuant’s analysis provides a useful warning flag: large holder inflows can increase potential supply at an exchange. It still does not establish that a sale occurred.
The bearish case strengthens if exchange-wallet balances keep rising while seller-initiated spot trades absorb bids on the same venues. A balance reversal, an identified internal transfer, or evidence that the movement was custody-related would weaken it.
Total trading volume cannot settle the question by itself. Aggregate turnover combines buys and sells and does not tie the reported wallet movement to a specific execution flow.
For now, the clean conclusion is narrower than the headline number might suggest. More XRP reached exchange-controlled custody during a period of price weakness. That creates potential selling pressure—but until the coins meet buyers on the order book, potential supply is not a completed sell-off.
